The Kassel Paradox
A downloadable game for Windows
THE KASSEL PARADOX
A first person shooter like no other. The Kassel Paradox is a time-travelling, blood-pumping, PSX-styled shooter set in the streets of Kassel, Germany during World War 2 and a dystopian Cyberpunk future.
Made in two weeks for the 32-bit Jam 2022, themed Another World. The Kassel Paradox is our first fully-fledged 3D project as a team.
As William Cadieux, a young recruit separated from his platoon, players fight behind enemy lines in what seems to be a hopeless mission, until they stumble upon an unusual pair of glasses...
SEAMLESS TIME TRAVEL
With the Time Travel Glasses in your possession, Time Travelling is as easy as pressing one button. Available at any time, usable with no restrictions, and completely seamless.
Explore the war-torn Wilhelmshöher Allee in Kassel, Germany in two separate, hand-crafted timelines built from the ground up around the Time Travel mechanic.
UP YOUR ARSENAL
With 6 different weapons to choose from, you're spoiled with options. Wield classic WW2 weaponry such as the iconic MP40, or go Cyberpunk on their asses with Laser Rifles and Railguns.
Each weapon has its pros and cons, and they're all unique in their own ways. Find them all and experiment to dominate the combat puzzle.
PLAY IT SMART
Use your Time Travel Glasses to your advantage. Pop in and out of the timelines mid-combat to avoid enemy fire, go behind enemies and ambush them, or get yourself some breathing room to reload.
But don't just point and shoot! Weapon switching is a key strategy to your survival, since enemies from the past take more damage from weapons from the future, and vice versa.

I was enjoying myself until I fired the railgun and the game immediately went to the "thanks for playing" screen. I was at the part where you're jumping over the boxes that are on fire, pretty sure the game wasn't meant to end there
lmao yeah, the programmer had to leave for the last couple of days of the jam so I did a pretty bad job at implementing the game over screen myself. What was supposed to happen is when you reach the end of the level, there is a visible collider that you touch and that triggers the game over screen. The thing is, I forgot to specify which colliders should be allowed to interact with that one, so instead of just the player model colliders being valid, ANY colliders can trigger the endgame - including the railgun and rocket launcher projectiles. So what happened is you probably shot the endgame collider by accident hahah
Haha damn yeah that must have been it, that's pretty funny. I went back through and completed it properly the time after. Pretty fun game
Looks so good! Will look to play soon. love the 32 bit look and feel :)
Thank you! Hope you have fun!
